We are a small hobby breeder dedicated to improving the Golden Retriever breed. Our goal is to combine the "overseas bloodlines that many feel excel in head properties, balance, and forequarter structure; with the American bloodlines that tend to excel in rear quarters, movement, showmanship and tend to have more profuse coat"*. . Excellent health, temperament and adherence to the UK breed standard is a priority. At this time we only have European/Canadian bloodlines but at some point we plan to incorporate some of our favorite American lines as well. Our goal as a breeder is to produce a dog that can compete in the conformation show ring with mom one day, go hunting with dad the next and jump in the children's bed at night to cuddle and sleep.
We first fell in love with the golden retriever breed with our beloved Nikki in 1997. She fit in perfectly with our family that love sports and the outdoors. Nikki has a wonderful pedigree that includes both show lines (like Nautilus) and field lines including the Jackson Jersey Devil - 3 time Master hunt Champion and AKC outstanding sire.
We have 6 children ranging in age from 2 to 12 years old. Our children are very involved with the dogs. They gladly pitch in with the puppies and love to play and care for the adults. We are even looking forward to our very own team of junior handlers some day!
In 2004 we expanded our family when we imported Zeus and Diamond from Belgium. With the arrival of these two beautiful dogs came our love of the English Golden retriever. In Novemeber of 2008 we added a Spunky, happy Little clown to our family ....a totally different breed ... a Coton de Tulear named Zoe!
Our Home
Our home is located in the Family friendly community of Gilbert - a suburb of Phoenix, AZ. We do not have runs, kennels or cages. Our dogs are a part of our family.
Puppies are raised in our home with our children.
Our interest in the show ring began seriously in 2003. Cheri joined the local club in Phoenix - The Valle Del Sol Golden retriever Club, as well as The English Goldens in North America Group. She actively attends and frequently works the local shows.
All of our goldens will be trained in obedience - Most will also compete in the conformation show ring. We also are planning on some hunt and agility training as well! Desdia In early 2007 we made the tough decision to change our kennel name from Desert Diamond to Desdia. AKC rules require registered names be 30 letters/spaces or less. Desert Diamond took up half of those spaces so coming up with names 15 letters or less was difficult. So.... We combined the first three letters of both words and Desdia was born.... *From the www.englishgoldens.net website.
